I-Kuan Tao---A Lighthouse

A speech addressed by the Grand Senior Master at the ceremony of I-Kuan Tao、L.A. 、U.S.A. Headquarters on April 6th、1996.

今天是一九九六年的 四月六日 ，在此向世界宣告：「世界一貫道總會成立了！」
Today is April 6th、1996、and it is the day to claim to the world that I-Kuan Tao U.S.A. Headquarters is set up.
這是我們最興奮的一天，也是一貫道在世界歷史上，經過我們大家多年努力而開展歷史上新的一頁。其中最有意義的，就是讓各國的道親在世界總會的成立下，能和樂與共的在一起，更是一股新力量群體的誕生。
To us、this is the most exciting day of all. We have struggled to have I-Kuan Tao flourished for so many years、and U.S.A. Headquarters is the milestone in I-Kuan Tao’s history.
一貫道是尊重和平，重視家庭倫理跟和諧的團體；消弭仇恨的真理，博大精神的道義，具足寬厚有禮的宗教情操。老年人歡喜祂，因為一貫道有「老吾老以及人之老」的特色；少年人也歡喜祂，因為一貫道有「幼吾幼以及人之幼」活潑成長的啟後精神。
I-Kuan Tao is a group focusing on peace、family ethic and harmony. It includes the truth which helps diminish hatred、the variety of the meanings of Tao、and the courteous attitude toward others. I-Kuan Tao also emphasizes that we should treat everyone respectfully and kindly.
一貫道是不分膚色，每一個民族都歡喜祂，因為祂能為人類打開人性迷失的源頭，回歸自性，讓每一個人都能夠有家可歸，同時更點出新生命的起點。因為一貫道能使我們在面臨暗淡或者是不如意人生時，仍能夠充滿了光輝；在不知所措，沒有方向之時，祂能給我們很大的目標，使我們不徬徨。
I-Kuan Tao is approachable to all peoples. People around the world like to know more about it because it is able to assist people in knowing their true natures. Since the true nature is rediscovered、people will know the purpose of their life and where they will go after passing away. I-Kuan Tao helps us be optimistic whenever there are problems、and it also gives us directions when we get lost.
我們大家從看不到的地方學習，在無形中改變；從聽不到的聲音以外，轉化了我們的內在，這就是一貫道的力量，也是 老母的宏恩。希望我們好好的珍惜祂，抓緊祂，讓我們追隨各位前人的腳步，向世界每一個需要我們的地方邁進。
We will improve ourselves and change ourselves little by little、and we will also become better and better. This is the power of I-Kuan Tao and the blessings from Heavenly Mother. We need to treasure Tao and to be close with it. Let’s follow the senior masters』 step to propagate Tao to where Tao is needed.
我們去播種、去發芽、去施肥、去灌溉，拿出我們的愛心和力量，為世界不分種族多進一份的愛心，多開啟一些法緣，使各民族都能在道的禮讚下，成為一家親。不僅如此，一貫弟子心胸更要廣大，使我們的道親要能長養「為天地立心，為生民立民為榮」；「為往聖繼絕學，開萬世太平」的心胸。
Let’s show our love and energy to propagate Tao. Let’s show our compassion to others to help them receive Tao、and enjoy cultivating Tao together. Moreover、we should take the duty to help others understand that they have the true natures. It is also our duty to pass down what we have inherited from the saints and try to create a peaceful world for our children.
雖然各國的道務正在發芽、開花的階段，但是我們仍要勤勤的去經營、培植祂，施肥灌溉不要懈怠，也不能鬆懈，不能驕傲。我們要以身作則，遇到挫折了不能洩氣。我們更要深入道親的疾苦，關懷道親的痛苦，這才是彌勒的眷屬。使道親覺得你關心他，讓他有被關愛的依靠。
Even though Tao is prosperous all over the world right now、we still need to have it keep moving on. No matter what we encounter、remember to look on the bright side. Besides、we have to understand what kinds of problems Tao believers have、and try to help them and take care of them.
世界一貫道總會是帶動我們各國道親，恪遵 師尊的訓語，祖師的宏誓大願，發揚 老母誠摯愛兒的呼喚。回來吧！上岸吧！不要再流浪了！現在是我們各國道親應該連成一線的時候了！世界一貫道的團結，就是將我們的精神統一、力量統一、禮節統一、制度統一，和我們將來的紀律統一。
World I-Kuan Tao Headquarters brings us to follow Shi Zun’s comportment、Buddha Maitreya’s vows. We ourselves will pay the compassion from Heavenly mother forward to help others. It is time for us to unite together、including the spirit、the power、the ritual、the regulation and the discipline in the future.
雖然我們做的還有很多地方的不足，希望我們大家共同去克服它。這是一份的期許，也是一份的祝福。謹祝一貫道在世界各國永遠是不熄滅的燈塔！感謝各位道親遠到而來，以及我們基礎組陳秘書長的辛勞，和各組線各位前人輩、點傳師與道親的辛苦參與大會，祝福各位
There are always something which need to be improved、and we are able to make them better and better. This is an expectation and a blessing.I wish I-Kuan Tao is the lighthouse all over the world. Thank you all for coming far away. Thank everyone for making the ceremony wonderful. Special thanks to secretary Chen from Foundation and every senior master、masters and Tao believers.
